Mike Vourakes

Michael Vourakes was born in Leamington, Ontario in 1961.  He is the President and CEO of PeopleChef.  Michael has a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State University and an Honours Degree in Commerce (B.Comm.) from the University of Windsor.

 

From 1998 to 2005, Michael worked at St. Clair College, and served senior education and executive positions. He began as Chair, Hospitality and Tourism, then advanced to Dean, Business and Technology and was later promoted to the senior management team as Vice President, Innovation and Business Development.

 

As an entrepreneur, Michael owned and operated three successful hospitality operations including a six hundred seat fine dining establishment where he expanded the scope of the business to include dinner theatre, off-premise catering and corporate meeting services. 

His latest venture, PeopleChef, is a new company that aims to bring balance back to the lives of busy Canadians by providing convenient and nutritious family meals for easy at-home dining in the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent area. PeopleChef also offers full scale institutional catering for companies looking to enhance the health and wellness and productivity of their workers.

 

Michael serves the community as Vice Chair of WEDNET, a community portal initiative involving the non for profit sectors. 

He is a member of the Hotel Dieu hospital foundation, served on the board of governors at St. Clair College, and was awarded the excellence in education Award. 

He is also a past recipient of the Ambassador of Tourism Award in 1984.

 

He loves technology, enjoys travelling, walking and writing. Michael and his wife Mary have 2 children- Maggie and Nicholas.
